Professional Referrals and Independent Assessments

Child's Story Box.png

FOR SOLICITORS, COURTS AND PROFESSIONAL REFERRERS

Independent family, child, parenting-capacity and forensic assessments are available for family-law, child-protection, criminal-justice and other complex matters. New professional referrals are currently being considered. Availability and report timeframes depend on complexity, participant numbers, document volume and court dates.

WHAT REFERRERS RECEIVE
Accepted referrals receive written confirmation of scope, fees and terms of engagement; a defined assessment process; independent analysis addressing the agreed questions; and a structured court-ready report. Court preparation, consultation and evidence can be arranged separately.

WHAT TO INCLUDE
Please email a concise initial enquiry for conflict checking and written confirmation of capacity. Include the assessment required, names of the parties, relevant court and dates, a short summary of issues and known risks, proposed referral questions or letter of instruction, intended recipients and responsibility for fees. Please do not send extensive original records with the first enquiry.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

  1. Initial enquiry and conflict check.

  2. Written scope, quote and terms of engagement.

  3. Agreed document review and appointment planning.

  4. Adult and age-appropriate child interviews, observations and authorised collateral enquiries where relevant.

  5. Independent analysis and a report addressing the agreed referral questions.

  6. Report release and court attendance in accordance with the instructions or order.

COMMUNICATION AND INDEPENDENCE
Email is the preferred method of communication. It provides a transparent record of instructions, reduces misunderstandings and supports procedural fairness and professional independence. Where appropriate, material communication should include all legal representatives or parties. Telephone consultation can be arranged when necessary, with substantive instructions confirmed in writing.

PROFESSIONAL SCOPE
Prof Tanya Robinson provides specialist forensic, family, child, risk and psychosocial assessments within her qualifications and professional scope. Her formal designation as a Clinical and Forensic Mental Health Social Worker is stated for professional transparency; she is not a psychologist.
